Privacy Policy

Who we are
SteadyTone Health, a service of Keystead Health, Inc. (“SteadyTone,” “we,” “us”), is based in Sacramento, California. We provide scheduled AI companion phone calls for older adults, along with call summaries, text updates, and a family dashboard for the family members they choose. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have.
In this policy, the “account holder” is the person who signs up and manages the service, the “senior” is the person who receives the calls, and “family contacts” are the people the account holder chooses to receive updates.
Information we collect
- Account information: the account holder’s name, email address, and profile photo when you sign in with Google, plus your plan and billing status.
- Senior information entered by family: the senior’s name, preferred name, phone number, language, time zone, call times, chosen companion, reminders, and any “words to flag” you add.
- Call audio and transcripts: calls are recorded and transcribed. Call audio is processed live so the companion can understand and respond, and we keep a written transcript of each conversation.
- Summaries and mood ratings: an AI-generated summary of each call, a mood rating (good, okay, low, or concerning), any concerns noted, and any urgent mentions (such as a fall or chest pain).
- Consent records: the senior’s response on the one-time setup call (pressing 1 or saying yes), and any later request to stop calls.
- Family contacts: names and mobile numbers of the people the account holder chooses to receive summaries and urgent texts, and their text message opt-out status.
- Familiar Voice: if a family member uses Familiar Voice, we collect their 1 to 3 minute voice sample, the voice clone created from it, and a record of their consent.
- Emily chat logs: messages you send to Emily, our website AI assistant, and any contact details you give if you choose “Talk to a person.”
- Waitlist, early access, and demo forms: the details you enter, such as your name, email, phone number, organization, and message.
- Calls to our phone number: when anyone calls (916) 222-7458, we receive the caller’s phone number and the conversation. Unknown callers speak with Emily, who may take a message for a call back.
- Basic technical data: such as browser type, device type, and pages visited, used to keep the site working and secure.
How calls work
- The senior agrees first. Before regular calls begin, we place a one-time setup call to the senior. It explains the service and that calls are recorded and transcribed so family gets a summary. Calls begin only after the senior presses 1 or says yes.
- Every call is disclosed. Every call says it is SteadyTone’s AI companion and that the call is recorded and transcribed so family gets a short summary.
- Stopping calls. The senior can say “stop calling” at any time, and calls pause. The account holder can also pause calls from the family dashboard.
- Summaries are shared. After every call, a short summary and mood rating are saved to the family dashboard and texted to the family contacts the account holder chose. The account holder can read the full conversation in the dashboard.
- Urgent texts. If the senior mentions a fall, chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs, heavy bleeding, or thoughts of self-harm, the companion tells them to call 911 (or 988 for a crisis) and family is texted right away.
How we use information
- To place scheduled calls, hold the conversation, and answer calls to our phone number.
- To create summaries, mood ratings, and flagged-word notices, and to send summaries and urgent texts to the family contacts the account holder chose.
- To show call history and full conversations in the family dashboard.
- To create and use a Familiar Voice, only with the speaker’s own consent.
- To answer questions through Emily, and to review Emily chat logs to improve our answers and service.
- To respond to demo requests, waitlist sign-ups, and support questions.
- To keep the service safe, prevent misuse, comply with law, and improve how it works.
Service providers we use
We share information with companies that help us run SteadyTone, under agreements that limit how they can use it:
- Google Cloud and Firebase for hosting, our database, and sign-in.
- Twilio for phone calls and text messages, and speech recognition on some calls.
- ElevenLabs for natural companion voices, speech recognition, conversation audio and transcripts, and Familiar Voice cloning. Our voice provider may retain conversation audio according to its retention settings.
- Anthropic for AI conversation and call summaries.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect someone’s safety in an emergency, or as part of a merger or sale of our business (in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information).
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use call content for advertising.
Text messages (SMS)
We send summary and urgent texts only to the family contacts the account holder chooses, and the account holder confirms they have permission to add each number. Message frequency varies with the number of calls. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. You can also email support@steadytonehealth.com. We do not sell or share mobile numbers for marketing.
Uplifting text messages. If a family member turns on uplifting texts for a loved one, we first send the loved one one text asking them to reply YES. We only send uplifting messages after they reply YES. They receive up to 3 messages a day at the times the family picks. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help, or call (916) 222-7458.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
How long we keep information
- Call transcripts, summaries, and mood ratings: kept while the account is active, and deleted within 30 days after the loved one is removed or the account is closed.
- Familiar Voice samples and voice clones: kept until Familiar Voice is removed or the account is closed, then deleted. We keep a record of consent as long as needed to show it was given.
- Emily chat logs and form submissions: kept for up to 24 months.
- Conversation audio: processed live for the call; our voice provider may retain conversation audio according to its retention settings.
- We may keep limited information longer when the law requires it, or to resolve disputes and prevent misuse.
Your choices, access, and deletion
You can update loved-one details, call times, family contacts, and Familiar Voice in the family dashboard. To ask for a copy of your information, a correction, or deletion, email support@steadytonehealth.com. A senior or a family contact may also contact us directly. We will verify your request before acting on it.
California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and to get a copy of it.
- Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information. Health-related details that come up in calls are sensitive personal information. We use them only to provide the service (for example, summaries and urgent texts), not to infer characteristics about you or for advertising.
- Not be discriminated against for using these rights.
To use these rights, email support@steadytonehealth.com. You may use an authorized agent. We will respond within the time the law requires.
Health information and HIPAA
SteadyTone is not a health care provider and is not covered by HIPAA today. We are preparing HIPAA-aligned processes and Business Associate Agreements for health plan partners. We still treat health-related details shared in calls as sensitive and protect them as described in this policy.
Children
SteadyTone is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child’s information was provided to us, email us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest on Google Cloud and limited staff access. No system is perfectly secure, so please contact us right away if you believe your account has been compromised.
Not an emergency or medical service
SteadyTone is a companionship and family-support service. It does not provide medical care, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency response. In an emergency, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988. See our Safety & Crisis Protocol.
Changes to this policy
We will post changes on this page and update the date above. If we make a significant change, we will notify account holders by email before it takes effect.
